Why
is the nominee eligible?
A)
Outstanding Contribution:
Nominee has gone above and beyond the
expectation of an Educator, Business, Community Group or Individual in the area
of removing barriers for individuals with disabilities.
For example they may have made contributions in any of the following areas:
| 1) |
Physical Barriers: i.e.. A business who adapted a work station for a person with a physical disability. |
| 2) | Attitude/ Social Barriers: i.e. An individual who commits time to promoting awareness about mental health. |
| 3) | Systemic Barriers: i.e. A teacher/coach who has advocated on behalf of students with disabilities for participation in sports. |
| 4) | Communication Barriers: i.e. A restaurant that has printed their menu in Braille. |
| 5) | Integration into Community: i.e. A youth who assists a child with a disability to participate in community recreation programs. |
| 6) | Other: Anything else you can think of! |
B)
Outstanding Accomplishment:
An individual with a disability who has
overcome their personal barriers to achieve or fulfill their personal goal or
dream.
Or
An individual with a disability who has had a
dramatic impact or influence on their community.
